Louisville League of Women Voters

Clean Energy and Efficient Energy Study
Joan Lindop, Chairwoman

In November and December 2010, the Louisville League unit meetings were dedicated to studying and consensus on positions regarding Clean Energy and Energy Efficiency in Kentucky.  Other local Leagues in Kentucky did the same. The results of the consensuses were sent to the Kentucky League of Women Voters, which combined the results of all the local League studies to arrive at the Kentucky League positions specific to clean energy in Kentucky. (Note: see www.LWV.org for national League positions.)

The position is still being formulated. When it is finalized by the LWVKY Board, we will post it on this page.
Please let Joan Lindop know if you are interested in working with her on environmental issues to influence national and state legislation in the 2011 Kentucky General Assembly.

Clean Energy Future Offers Hope of Prosperity

September 19, 2011

The League of Women Voters hosted a presentation by Kristin Tracz (ktracz@maced.org), Research and Policy Associate at Mountain Area Community Economic Development, Inc. (www.maced.org/index.htm). Tracz  discussed policy proposals that can spur development of the clean energy sectors in Kentucky and the economic benefits including increased employment opportunities that can be expected from enhanced clean energy economic development.  Tracz explained how a number of environmental, housing, and public interest groups who support clean energy policies have formed the Kentucky Sustainable Energy Alliance, “The Alliance members are working together to encourage legislation and promote a more sustainable and prosperous energy sector in Kentucky.”   Clean and efficient energy programs include wind and solar energy sources and employment in clean energy and related fields. Dinner was served.
